At DEM, we utilize 3D printing for a wide variety of production components, prototyping and tooling. We deploy both fused filament and SLA technologies in our daily operations in order to rapidly create non-functional and functional prototypes that can be moved into small scale manufacturing quickly.
In fact, we have recently began experimenting with the 3D printing of tooling molds for our injection molding machines. This approach will enable relatively small runs of components (less 1,000 pieces) to be made at production level quality for a fraction of the time and expense of traditional tooling.
