Turnkey Product Manufacturing
DEM outperforms both traditional design firms and single-discipline contract manufacturers by keeping everything in-house, from initial concept through final production. With integrated design, engineering, and product manufacturing under one roof, we deliver rugged, high-performance products with precision, speed, and full process visibility.
DEM’s Manufacturing Process
We follow a proven four-stage process to deliver consistent, high-quality results for complex builds and electronic components manufacturing.
Step 1: Procurement
All required raw materials and components are purchased, and tooling is fabricated during this initial phase.
This stage typically takes 4–6 weeks to complete.
Detailed drawings are finalized to communicate critical quality and performance requirements to suppliers. Competitive bids are solicited to identify best-value vendors, and our team closely coordinates with each supplier to ensure on-time delivery. Upon arrival, all materials undergo a structured incoming quality inspection to verify compliance before release to production. Our inventory specialists then organize the bill of materials (BOM), and the production team is equipped and briefed according to the finalized specifications.

Step 2: First Article (FA)
Using detailed work instructions developed by the engineering team, the production team builds the FA. All work instructions are revision-controlled and released in digital form to our workstations throughout our ERP system.
Engineering stays hands-on during this phase, working closely with production to confirm build accuracy, fine-tune instructions, and assess manufacturability.
This integrated process is especially critical for electronic components manufacturing, where precise assembly and testing helps identify opportunities for improvement before full-scale production.
Once assembled, the FA undergoes mechanical and electrical testing. If it passes all internal checks, the engineering manager signs off and sends it to you for final review, which is the last step before production begins. Any additional tools or fixturing needed to streamline the manufacturing process are produced during this phase and incorporated into the work instructions.

Step 3: Production
After FA signoff, full-scale production is launched.
Depending on part complexity and volume, DEM typically begins shipping the product in under 4 weeks.
Whether your order is a few hundred units or tens of thousands, our flexible production floor supports scalable electronic components manufacturing for PCBAs, cable assemblies, integrated electro-mechanical builds, and more.
Step 4: Testing
Every product manufactured at DEM goes through multiple rounds of inspection and testing before it ships.
Most electronic assemblies are functionally tested at least three times per unit by our QA/QC staff.
For applications that require environmental durability, we offer IP ingress and waterproof testing up to 30 meters of submersion. Although we’re not a certified lab, these capabilities give added confidence that your product is ready for the real world.
